The Buccaneer's Bloodbath

As Halloween inches ever closer so does the craving for a sweet treat, in the spookiest of vessels.  Pirates inspire everything here at the Gato and this seasonal grogtail is no exception.  The Buccaneer's Bloodbath is a coconut and rum cream laced libation with a rich, gory swirl of sweet blood orange that pools appropriately at the base of the skull.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Rum Creme

  • 1.5 oz good white rum

  • 4 oz coconut water

  • 1 oz coconut cream

  • 2 oz blood orange syrup

  • 1 tbsp toasted coconut

 

How to

​

  • Add the coconut to flat plate or a napkin. Using a 12 oz skull cocktail glass (or a less spooky version), moisten the rim with a touch of the blood orange syrup and dip the rim into the coconut to coat.

  • Add the blood orange syrup to the glass and place in the freezer for 30 minutes.

  • Add the remaining ingredients into a drink mixer, add ice, shake really well for a minute. 

  • Remove the glass from the freezer and swirl the cold blood orange syrup around to coat the glass as best as possible. 

  • Strain the drink into the glass over ice.

  • Serve with straw.

 

Serves 1 buccaneer with a sweet tooth
